"Fighting Back One Gadget At A Time"
I wanted something to put all my earrings in and since I wasn't ordering it as a travel case, I did not worry too much about the reviews that said it was big. Here are some things you might want to know about this case.
1. It is covered and lined with felt but it is not padded so it is a hard case.
2. A 6 inch long by a little over a 1/4 inch wide satin type material ribbon is attached between the top and bottom of the case, which tends to pull the top closed when I want it to stand open. Since I can only use one hand this is annoying. I'm thinking about cutting the ribbon. I'm just hoping if I do that it will solve the problem and not create another one like the opened top flopping back. If I use something to prop the top open and leave it open for a while then it stays open when I remove the item propping it open but after I close it and leave it closed for a while it goes back to shutting on me when I want it to stand open.
3. The section are just under 1 and 1/2 inches deep. (My earrings are way down there and there is a lot of wasted space. My miniature rabbit and squirell figurines fit in the sections so I may have found another use for it.)
4. The dimensions of the sections are just over 1 and 1/2 inches from side to side and also from front to back. Of course the four at the corners that are rounded are a little smaller due to the curve. Basically if you had blocks that measured 1 and a 1/2 inches on all their straight sides they would fit in the sections and you could close the top.
5. When Closed this case is 2 and 1/2 inches tall. It is about 10 and 3/8 inches from side to side and from front to back it is almost 7 and 1/4 inches.
6. The depth inside the top is almost 1/2 inch so if you are going to use the box for something a little taller than 1 and 1/2 inches that would stick out of the sections you'll still be able to close it.
7. It is made in China.
8. If your close it and turn it upside with earrings in it and your earrings are all over the place when you open it back up.
9. The mirror on the inside top is about 6 and 1/2 by 2 and 1/4 inches.
10. The pouch that extends across the top on the inside to hold additional pieces is about 3 inches deep.
11. The label inside reads Mele & Co. since 1912.
12. The overall quality is good. It isn't extra ordinary craftmanship but I don't expect that for the price.
13. It is a nice box and came packaged nicely in a pretty pink box.
I do like the case but it would have been interesting to have known the things I listed above when I was purchasing it. I picked black and it shows every little piece of lint. I'm a little OC so I keep trying to pick them off. I don't know if red would have been better for this or not.

I love this jewelry case; it's perfect for my earrings. I wouldn't call it a travel jewel case though; it's a little big for that. Very quick shipment by merchant.

This is a great box for all my earrings. This is the first time I have had them all in one place. I can see them easily and can get them out of the individual compartments with ease. Great purchase!
