Jewelry Box, Italian Inlaid Wooden Musical Ring Box, Plays "Fur Elise"

These beautiful and unique musical jewelry / ring boxes are a true work of art! They are hand-crafted in Sorrento, Italy following traditional methods that date back centuries. The art of inlay, or Marquetry, is actually a decorative composition obtained by cutting, inserting and putting together different colored pieces of wood to create a design or image. The decorative pattern, whether a flower, landscape, or some other motif, is first drawn on the top layer. The masterful Sorrentine artisan then meticulously cuts the veneer, piece by piece, following the lines of the pattern. Parts of the veneer that need shadowing are placed in a hot sand bath for a few seconds. All the inlaid pieces are finally combined and set into the surface of the jewelry box, like a puzzle, to create the beautiful composition that appears before you. The inlaid pieces are so perfectly aligned that they create a design that is leveled with the surface. Each jewelry box is a timeless heirloom that will be treasured for generations to come.

• Left interior compartment features a ring-roll / ring holder bar, which measures approximately 2.5" in length.

• A wind-up musical mechanism is mounted on the right-side compartment and can be viewed thru a clear glass panel when the box is opened. This box plays "Fur Elise".
