1a disaster  Jan 24, 2011

This truck falls apart at the slightest touch! No way my child can play with it. It was terrible to put together because it won't stay-and when a piece falls off and we try to fix it, a million other pieces fall off while you are fixing the first. Don't waste your money. The video roller coaster on the other hand was a hit though.

3Ok set but not great  May 22, 2010
By R. Dayrit
As many others have commented, this set can be challenging. I got this to supplement the pieces in the 400 piece value tub.

My 5 year old took several hours (spread over a couple of days) to put it together and did get frustrated during the process but managed to complete it by himself. He even commented that he had to be careful and gentle with it. It takes a fair amount of patience so be honest about how much patience you and your child have before buying this. I don't think my 4 year old or I have the patience to mess with it but my 5 year old has always enjoyed challenging puzzles.

1The worst crap that you can ever buy  Feb 12, 2010

Never stays together. It falls apart while you are trying to build it. I have built many many toys for my son but this totally throws me out of my patient. Even after you are so careful to build it spending almost an hour not to make it fall apart. It takes only a half of a second for your 5 years old son to bring it back to you to build it again.

NOT WORTH IT!!!!!!!!!

2Frustrating  Nov 28, 2009
By Suburban Boston Parent "Jennifer"
After my 5 year old had a great experience with the Knex ferris wheel, which uses mainly rod-shaped pieces and not lego-shaped blocks, we tried this set. It is FRAGILE and frustrating. It falls apart at the slightest touch. The only reason I gave this two stars is that my son likes to use the stripped down chassis/motor/wheels assembly to play with, without all the dump truck parts on top.

1Poor enough quality to reduce a child to tears  Jan 04, 2009
By David L. Holcombe
My 8-year-old son received this kit for Christmas, and I couldn't be more angry about his experience with it. The pieces hold together so poorly it's nearly impossible to construct any complicated assembly with them. "Legos" this AIN'T. After spending ALL DAY trying to assemble it, he asked me for help and, after 45 minutes trying to piece together his meticulously-constructed subassemblies into a completed whole, I'm prepared to pronounce it impossible.

I'm a professional engineer, and would like to think I have the perception and delicate touch necessary to assemble anything, but I'm at wit's end with the fragility of this product. Frankly, I'm amazed that he accomplished what he did... any time I try to combine two assemblies, regardless of how gingerly, they fall apart at multiple places.

K'nex makes a fine product when they stick to their rod-and-connector basics, but this "would-be-Legos" kit is bad, bad, bad, and I've had to suffer through the 8-year-old's tears of frustration as a result.
