This Valet is Worth the Few Extra Dollars Jul 02, 2010
By TJ
"Key"
I bought this valet (among other items) for my fiance's birthday. He excitedly thanked me for getting him "something he can actually use!" He immediately put his two BlackBerrys and ipod on it to charge along with his change, cuff links, pens and lapel pins. It is spacious, but not too big and bulky, has useful compartments, and it's actually very stylish, which was also important. It was a gift for me, too, having all his items in one place, rather than scattered throughout the house! It costs a little more than comparable items, but we think it's worth it. It does not come with a surge protector--I didn't feel that was clear in the description, so I'm telling you. Overall, a great buy!

Great Men's Valet Product - perfect design May 18, 2011
By B. Hake This item was exactly what I was looking for. It has:
- 3 slots ideal for charging phones, ipods and cameras
- 2 spots for watches
- 1 coin\key tray.
- place for rings and cuff links.
- a drawer for those random items.
The platform for the phones lifts open and reveals an area large enough for cables and a power strip. I did not put a power strip in my because I was worried about proper venting. This space could also be used for storing other items. The platform itself is about 1/4 inch think which is nice considering I was worried it would be thin.
I purchased 4 of these. One for myself and 3 as groomsmen gifts. We all really enjoy having them.

great looking black valet - black finish is easy to chip Jun 11, 2011
By oloung1 this valet received 3 out of 5 due to the following reasons:
a) rear-back corner had a 1cm chip and coloring was filled in by permanent marker(not sure if serious)=
not new condition from the manufacturer!@#@!!.
b) price is marked up at least $10 more for black then cherry or other wood variants.
c) the bottom drawer is not secured, so if you have a use for it often, expect to pull
the drawer completely out (accidentally) on occasion for larger flat items.
other than these 3 detracting qualities, i would warn buyers that if you are going to use
the 2 watch pillows, expect the glue come undone at some point, especially if you live in
warm, humid climates. the watch pillows do have stitching but is shaped together with glue
as well.
overall, i would buy this again, i just hope the thin black surface lasts at least 5 or 6 years.

Large and functional Jan 13, 2012
By HawkPilot I got this charging valet because I charge my phones overnight and I like them on the nightstand because I use the phone's alarm function. But I hated the messy cables and the extension cords.
First thing you notice, as another customer astutely mentioned, is it is large and takes quite a footprint. If you use it on a nightstand like I do, ensure the top is large enough to accommodate it, and other items you may have such as alarm clocks or lamps.
The compartment where the cable and power supplies is large and roomy. It may not fit an actual power-strip, but I have a standard 3 outlet extension cord. where I charge an Iphone, Blackberry, and a Kindle. I also have the lamp plugged in so I only have to use one extension cord. If your device requires a 3-prong grounded plug or has a large brick check to make sure all of it will fit. The interior compartment measures 10.5" x 4.75". The height is only 2.5" for the cover to lay flat. You could probably stretch that a bit with a large plug and the top would not lay flat but be angled up. (This may be desirable to some.)
The bottom drawer is completely removable and the stand looks good without it. I would not use this drawer because it is so small and, for me, of limited use. I have removed it and find that my Kindle looks nice in its place and it kinda looks like it has been designed for that.
My only complaint, and the reason I deducted a star, is that the top jewelery area should have been placed in a removable tray so that this space would have been more flexible. I would have preferred to take it out and place sunglasses or other daily use items there.
I will try to get photos uploaded that will give a better since of scale.
good but not what I need Jan 28, 2012

I bought this thinking I could take out the drawer and use the slot for my iPad, based on comments from another reviewer, but the slot isn't deep enough to do that. More than half of the iPad sticks out, looking kinda silly. I don't consider this the manufacturer's fault since I was trying to use it in a different way than intended, but I still decided to return it because it doesn't suit my needs. It is well made and looks nice though. The cavity for the surge protector is easy to access and quite roomy.
