Take-everywhere dinosaur Jan 15, 2011

This small dinosaur replica is the perfect size to accompany a small child on a car trip, to a friend's house or to a restaurant. His back feet and tail rest solidly on a table, so he's not likely to tumble into someone's soup.
With gleaming eyes and a gaping jaw full of convincing white teeth, he looks quite fierce for his size, always a plus for small boys.
Schleich does a beautiful job on anatomical details. The double crest on his head that gives him his name is wonderfully bumpy and flared. His curling forefeet and splayed back feet are very realistic. Although he's at rest, he seems ready to take off any second. And in fact, he was one of the fastest early Jurassic dinosaurs.
The coloration of this dilophosaurus is especially striking: a motley mix of reddish brown, green and tan.
Highly recommended, especially as part of a varied Schleich dinosaur collection.
