1Horrible chemical smell  Mar 16, 2011
By Dickens the Cat "Dickens"
Beware. This contains PVC, which is not mentioned in the description. We opened it and it had a chemical smell. I would not use this for a child's lunch! Try the environmentally friendly ones that say they do not contain PVC.

5Passed endurance test (1 school year)  Jun 06, 2011
By K. Sheppard
What I expect from a kids' lunch box is that it holds up well for at least one school year. This lunch box passed the test. My 1st grader used it each day throughout the school year. Now that the year is over, it looks a little ratty with two very tiny rips, but it's still fully functional with working zippers. But he has outgrown the monkey design. This lunch box is a little softer around the sides than the stiffer Crocodile Creek lunch box. I've used both and like both (the Crocodile Creek lunch box also held up well for everyday use during the school year). Wish these lunch boxes lasted longer, but they are what they are.

5Works for dogs (-:  Apr 21, 2011
By Tom Long "Author of the Juice of Life"
My wife thinks I'm weird for doing this. I bought this to store a water dish, water bottle, leash, and clean up bags for my dog. It fits perfectly under the passenger seat of our car and we're always ready to walk the dog or offer him a drink. The bag is big enough to hold everything, easy to wipe off any messes, and I think it is very cute. (I'm pretty sure my dog agrees.) But, hey, I'm sure it works well for kids, too.

5LOVED this lunchbox!  Jul 07, 2012
By B.D. "NeverEnoughRomance"
I got this lunchbox at a second hand store and paid $4.00 for it. We used it everyday for over a year, until the liner split and came apart. And since then we have tried 3 other lunchboxes, and I have not been able to find a one that I liked as well as this one. So I'm buying another today.

What do I like about it?

#1 - the size (I am a parent who packs breakfast, 2-4 snacks, a water bottle, and sometimes lunch, plus one and sometimes 2 freezer packs, EVERYDAY and I never had a problem fitting all that in this lunch bag. I loved that I could fit a tri-compartment ziploc box, a juice box, snacks, AND freezer packs, and it still zipped shut.)

#2 - it has two zippers that you can zip from either end. (For a person who drives over 40 miles a day back and forth to school/work etc. the double zippers come in handy when your driving and digging into the bag for breakfast or a snack.) Also loved that even with all the abuse my now 3 year old has given it, the zippers zip.

#3 - So easy to clean. The outside wipes right off, never stains, and when the inside got dirty or started to smell like sour milk, I soaked it in a Simple Green and water solution and voila it was like new again.

#4 - The front pocket is perfect for napkins, notes, spoons, and various whatnot. (I usually use the front pocket for my son's breakfast, for easy access on the way to school... and it stays warm.)

What didn't I like about this lunchbox? Only one thing - it leaks. But show me a lunchbox for under $30 that doesn't leak when a liquid is spilled inside... I probably wouldn't be able to fit all my child's food in it.

Like I said, Loved it. Buying it again.

5Great Lunch Box  Aug 03, 2011
By April Woodard
My 6 yr old daughter chose this lunch box out of dozens of others we saw on Amazon.com and also ones we saw in store. The size is perfect for us, it will hold a compartmentalized ziplock container and still have room for an ice pack which can be put in the mesh pocket on the inside. Another review mentioned a "horrible chemical smell" but I had to stick my nose to it to find it. There is a slight plastic smell (as with most new things) but it wasn't apparent when I opened the box. There is also a velcro band inside that will keep a water bottle upright, a nice zippered area on the front, and the outside seems like it will be easy to wipe clean. My daughter's last lunch box had a mostly fabric exterior and I had to wash it often as she would put it on the ground. Needless to say, it was not fun. The design is so cute! The monkey's face, hands, and belly are slightly raised as well as the the small flowers and parts of the larger ones. I can't yet comment on durability but it seems well made.
